Thrift Style Thursday: Pinspired

This week, Andrea of Little Did You Know challenged us to recreate an outfit found on Pinterest. My taste runs toward casual and comfortable, so I chose this outfit to mimic, though I couldn't track down the original post: Scratch that! The lovely Janet was able to identify the blogger in my pinspiration. Thanks, Janet!

I'm not so keen on leggings as a replacement for actual pants (under a skirt or dress, sure, but it has to at least cover my bum). So I went with black denim skinnies instead. Other than that, I had everything I needed already in my closet.

Unfortunately, I noticed as I was putting on my favorite boots that the faux leather is starting to peel on the back of one heel. I guess I can add that to my short term resolutions: new brown leather boots.

It actually got up to 70F/21C this afternoon, so the cardigan was a bit much. But it wouldn't have been a proper Pinterest recreation without it.

In other news, I've been working on one of my resolutions for this year. I've been reading up on photography lately. I made the first big leap and turned the dial on my camera from Auto to Manual. I still used the auto-focus, but I did play around with the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. It's exciting stuff!

  1. I chose an almost identical pin to recreate today! That's too funny! Apparently great minds think alike! And I agree with you on leggings - while I still call what I am wearing today leggings, they're really more like skinny jeans. I love your look and I'm jealous of your warm weather!

    1. I saw that! We are totally in sync! I wish my scarf had owls on it though. That would've made it better. :)

    1. Check! Close-up shots added to the to-do list for future photo shoots. But for now, you can check out my original post about the scarf refashion. This was in the olden days before I had a decent camera, so the pics aren't great quality, but whatever.

  3. That's a great recreation. I love the Pleated Poppy's style. She just has this very casual style about her. Definitely jealous of the warm weather you are having. :)

    1. Thank you so much, Janet! I've updated my post to give credit, and I repinned so my pin would lead to the real thing.

  4. Such a great look, and I have to say I'm jealous you could take your photos outside!!! The sun came out an hour after I posted :( Oh well, you nailed the look, and I love those boots! I hear you on the leather, though, I had a favorite pleather jacket that I finally had to chuck because it was peeling so badly...on the hunt for a thrifted replacement!

    1. It's colder (for Texas) and rainy today. Luckily, I shot these pics a couple days ago! That's not cheating, is it? ;)
