Basketweave Headband

Materials:
Lily Sugar ‘n Cream (100% cotton, 2.5oz/70g, 120yds/109m) one ball in Sunshine
Two US7 (4.5mm) double-pointed needles
Tapestry needle

Gauge:

20sts by 29rows = 4in (10cm) in basket weave pattern on US7 (4.5mm)

Finished Size:
1.75in (4.5cm) wide by 12in (30cm) long, plus 12in (30cm) of cord on each end

Pattern:
Cord:
CO 3 sts on a dpn. Slide sts to opposite end of needle instead of turning and k3. Rep this rnd until you have 12in (30cm) of I-cord. The middle portion of the headband is worked back and forth (instead of sliding sts to other end).
Increases:
Row 1: sl1, m1, k1, m1, k1 – 5 sts.
Row 2: sl1, p3, k1.
Row 3: sl1, m1, k3, m1, k1 – 7 sts.
Row 4: sl1, p5, k1.
Row 5: sl1, m1, k5, m1, k1 – 9 sts.
Basket Weave Pattern:
Row 1: sl1, p2, k3, p2, k1.
Row 2: sl1, k2, p3, k3.
Row 3: sl1, p2, k3, p2, k1.
Rep these 3 rows 24 more times.
Decreases:
Row 1: ssk, k5, k2tog – 7 sts.
Row 2: sl1, p5, k1.
Row 3: ssk, k3, k2tog – 5 sts.
Row 4: sl1, p3, k1.
Row 5: ssk, k1, k2tog – 3 sts.
Cord:
Slide these 3 sts to other end of needle and k3. Rep this rnd until you have another 12in (30cm) of I-cord on this end. Cut yarn and use tapestry needle to thread tails into inside of I-cord.

Wrap headband around your head and tie it tight under your hair. Go show off your mad skills.

Drawstring Pouches

Materials:
Miscellaneous worsted yarn (great stash-busting project!)
Appropriately-sized double-pointed needles
Tapestry needle
About 2ft (61cm) of ribbon or scrap yarn

Gauge:
Anywhere from 16-24sts = 4in (10cm) in stst, depending on your yarn weight and needle size

Finished Size:
About 4in (10cm) wide by 6in (15cm) tall, depending on your yarn weight and needle size

Pattern:
CO 40 sts, leaving a 16in (41cm) tail for sewing later, and dist to 3 dpns. Join to work in the rnd, being careful not to twist. Knit every rnd for about 5in (13cm) of stst. If desired, you can add stripes, color blocks, fair isle or a textured design.
Eyelet Rnd: [k2, k2tog, yo, k1] 8 times.
Ribbing: [k1, p1] around. Rep this rnd 3 more times. BO in patt.
Finishing:
Use CO tail to sew bottom closed. Weave in ends. Weave ribbon in and out of eyelets and tie ends in a bow.

You can easily adjust this pattern to make the pouch larger or smaller, wider or skinnier, longer or shorter. Feel free to tweak it to accommodate what you want to put in it.
