Seismic Shift Shawl to Knit or Crochet

I'm so excited to announce that I've partnered with Miss Babs to design a pair of knit or crochet patterns for the next installment of their Inspired Adventures Club! Kits for the Seismic Shift (knit) and Seismic Shift (crochet) shawls are up for preorder now through August 11 and will ship on August 14.

The construction of this shawl takes its cue from how the Hawaiian Islands were formed as the tectonic plates slowly moved over volcanic hot spots, forming new islands along the way.

The knit pattern features garter stitch fabric, while the crochet version is worked in half double crochet. Each shawl begins at the top and is worked downward, similar to your standard top-down triangular shawl, with a twist or two.

Pride & Progress Cowl to Knit or Crochet

The Pride & Progress Cowl patterns are now live on Ravelry (knit and crochet) and Payhip (knit and crochet)!

20% of the proceeds from pattern sales will be donated to The Trevor Project initially. In the future, these funds may be directed to other organizations that support the queer community, wherever the need seems greatest at that time.

This design takes inspiration from the Progress Pride Flag created by Daniel Quasar. Like the flag, the cowl builds on the traditional rainbows, joining them with mitered stripes representing transgender people, people of color, and those impacted by HIV/AIDS. Its modular construction - four squares forming a continuous tube - symbolizes the progress we can make when we come together and prioritize inclusion.

The knit pattern features garter stitch fabric, while the crochet version is worked in linen stitch. Each cowl is an infinity tube (aka doughnut or torus) formed by joining four squares together. The first two squares are worked separately in rainbow stripes, from one corner to the other, on the bias. The third and fourth squares are worked modularly by picking up stitches from the rainbow squares and working mitered squares inward with decreases at each corner.

These cowls were designed in collaboration with Leading Men Fiber Arts, using their set of 11 mini skeins in the colors of the Progress Pride Flag. Go check out their Pride Box that includes this yarn and pattern, plus other fantastic pride-themed goodies!

Approximate amounts per color are also included in the patterns, in case you want to use up leftovers from stash or substitute colors if there's a more specific pride flag you would prefer.

Lakewood Cowl to Knit or Crochet

The Lakewood Cowl patterns are now live on Ravelry (knit and crochet) and Payhip (knit and crochet)!

The knit pattern features garter stitch fabric with an i-cord edging, while the crochet version is linen stitch edged with camel stitch. Both are worked from the top down, beginning with a flat triangle, then joined to work a flared tube in the round. Each pattern includes video tutorial links for the relevant techniques.

These cowls were designed in collaboration with Knit Dallas, using their custom colorways from Plied Yarns. Each sample was made with 1 skein of North Ave, plus 1 North Ave bobbin for the trim.

The pattern is incredibly versatile too. You could easily use any yarn weight you like. The patterns include measurements at each step, as well as guidelines on how and where adjustments can be made, so you can work your cowl at whatever gauge you've got, in whatever size you need!

Plus, you can have tons of fun playing with color combos!
* Grab a semi-solid mini skein to accentuate that sassy speckle!
* Stick with a neutral base, then add a pop of neon in the trim!
* Let that gorgeous gradient shine!
* Wanna bust that stash? Try a scrappy stripey version!
