I began with a standard green tank top I acquired a few clothes swaps ago. It was one of those with a built-in bra, but since those never, ever, ever accommodate my assets, I carefully snipped it out, leaving a basic cami.
I typically like to wear a little plaid on St Pat's, not just green. So I grabbed a plaid shirt from my husband's closet and tied it at the waist.
Keeping the accessories simple as well, I threw on a pair of earrings I made myself. The wooden beads were actually from a jewelry-making kit I got at least 20 years ago, a gift from my brother when we were kids.
The jeans were another clothes swap find that I skinnified.
Finally, I slipped on my Teva leather sandals I got on Yerdle last summer. (Again, if you use this link to sign up, then you'll get $35 in credits to start out, and I'll get $10 for the referral!)
Cami: clothes swap // Plaid shirt: husband's closet // Jeans: clothes swap // Earrings: me-made // Sandals: Yerdle

Love this! I like the idea of adding a little plaid to your St. Paddy's Day look, I might have to try that one of these years!
ReplyDeleteYou should! Everybody wears green, so I like to add plaid for a different look that's still in the spirit of the holiday!
DeletePlaid for St. Paddy's Day is just perfect! I had Green bangs (not specifically for the holiday), a Green dino shirt, and Green camo pants. Pinch paranoia? ...I have boys. :o) I wanted to make a top out of a White on White shamrock print cotton that I keep saying, "Next year" about. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and make it up as a Spring top so it will be ready for next year.

I was lucky as a kid - even if I did forget to wear green on St Pat's, I have green eyes, so that was my fallback. :)
DeleteI'd love to see this white-on-white shamrock top!
I love this look for St. Patrick's Day! The green and plaid combo is the perfect subtle nod to the holiday, and I love those custom skinny jeans - they look GREAT on you!! Awesome post this week! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristi! Since flares and bootcuts are a dime a dozen at thrift shops, and they're usually slightly too short for my long legs, they're the perfect candidates for skinny jeans refashions!
DeleteThis is a perfect combination for St. Paddy's Day. People used to ask me what my favorite color was and I would always reply "plaid." lol Of course, I am Scots/Irish. We had the "pinch" thing going on during my school days and if I forgot to wear green, I would always tell the boys my eyes are green so I'm covered. I'm glad to see your husband has a plaid shirt in his closet.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about polka dots! I used the green eye excuse sometimes too, though I seldom forgot to wear green.
DeleteI like the subtlety of your St. Patrick's Day outfit. And those are great photos - what an awesome backdrop and you look very relaxed.
ReplyDeleteI know! The second I saw that tree growing sideways I knew I had to showcase it. I have a strong feeling you'll see it again from time to time. :)
