Thrift Style Thursday: Sweater Weather

This week's challenge came from Beth, who wanted to see how we all dress for sweater weather. I feel I should put a little disclaimer here: Texas sweater weather is not quite on par with Minnesota sweater weather.

Thrift Style Thursday: Sweater Weather

The "winter" end of my closet consists of a series of light-weight pullovers, such as this one, which I typically wear layered with tank tops, or maybe a long-sleeved tee on a particularly chilly day.

To be fair, I was wearing a jacket today as well, but I removed it for these photos. The fact that I could do that, coupled with the visibly green grass in this park, is a testament to the relative mildness of our winters.

There are those among us (me for one) who pine for snow, but sadly, no one down here is prepared for it or knows how to drive in it, so most schools and businesses just shut down on those rare occasions. Yep, everything grinds to a halt just because of a little powder.

Gap sweater: $4 thrifted // Tank: $1 thrifted // Skinny jeans: refashioned // Boots: $4 thrifted // Scarf: $2 thrifted

So there you have it, winter wear in the south. Laughable, isn't it? Now, go see what the other TST ladies don to keep warm in their climates.

    1. Thanks! I do love this scarf, although with my ridiculous scarf collection, I don't wear it nearly often enough.

    1. Target! All man-made materials, so I'm sure they weren't that expensive to begin with, but you still can't beat thrifted prices!

  3. I love this outfit! The sweater, scarf, boots, even your top knot are adorable!! And I totally feel ya on the "sweater" weather, which barely warrants a sweater here in CA, too, except on very cold days when it dips into the 50's and we all claim that we are "freezing" haha! Oh well, at least we look cute! ;)

    1. It's supposed to get up to the 60s tomorrow, which is warmer than it has been for a couple weeks. So maybe it's a tad cooler here than California, but still, not "real" winter.

  4. Sweaters, aside, I love those boots. THOSE are a great thrift find! (I have a small obsession with boots - Canadian, what can I say? I come by it honestly.)

    1. I have a slight obsession with boots as well, but nearly as much opportunity to wear them, unfortunately.

  5. Loving the new look for your blog, your outdoor shots, and this outfit is pretty sweet. I'm totally jealous of your sweater weather, but I know I could have it worse...so I won't complain ;) The boots are pretty awesome, btw, and I'm kinda obsessed. Great thrifty finds!

  7. A lot of weather is relative for the sufferer - if you're used to warmth, a little cold goes a long way. I'm glad I don't have to function in your hot summers!

You look comfortable but stylish. Just right.

    1. That's absolutely true! Though I wish I didn't have to suffer through our summers either. Ugh!

  8. :o) I'm another one of "those people" longing for a snowy Winter. It's been weird running the heater in the car in the morning to take my son to school, then the AC in the afternoon to pick him up! Thankfully it cooled back down today. I was hoping we'd get another Winter like last year. It's not over yet, so maybe we'll get some snow yet.

OH, and I too love those boots!

    1. I know! It's make it hard to get dressed in the morning when it's chilly, but you know you'll be sweating in your sweater by the end of the day.
