Thrift Style Thursday: Cinco de Mayo

When Beth asked us what we were going to wear for Cinco de Mayo this week, I honestly had no clue.

I scoured my usual thrift shops for anything with a Mexican feel to it - not a difficult task, being in Texas and all - but nothing I tried on really struck my fancy. I didn't want to buy something just for this challenge and then never wear it again.

But then, I spotted this fantastic sisal and leather bag with a gorgeous pattern in the weave, and I decided to build an outfit around it. I'm terribly happy with my purchase, knowing I will definitely use this purse again and again.

  1. Looks great. I have probably commeneted before, but again, I'd like to say - thanks so much for your Thursday posts. They have taught me much on how to look for and at the possibilities of thrift store purchases.

    1. Thank you, Linda! My exploration into photography has been fun, and I do agree I've come a long way. But as you say, I have put out only the best --- I immediately delete the bad ones! :)

    1. It *is* pretty fabulous, isn't it? And it has some many colors already live in my closet - I know it'll match so much!

  4. That purse is gorgeous, what a great find!! I love the detail shots in this post, the sandals and accessories are perfection! I didn't know what to wear this week at all, either, but it looks like everyone went for bold colors and pretty sandals - love it!! ;)

    1. It's funny how, without the purse, I might feel completely mismatched. Orange jewelry with coral pants? What was I thinking? But then you add in the bag, and it all goes perfectly!

  5. Re your toes: just look around you! Actually, you can't see all of the other toes in the world, but I can tell you that I, for instance, have ridiculously small toes with enough space for a sixth toe between the big guy and the other four ... I'm surprised I don't fall over more, given my small toes. :o)

Re the bag - perfectly ties all the elements. Love the necklace with it all, too.

    1. You'd think I'd have superb balance and not be as clumsier as I am. But no, I swear I'd trip over my own toes more often than not.

  6. Again, the bag is perfection, and just enough to bring it all together! And I love the pedicure...my needs an update and I'm hoping I have a similar range of colors ;)

    1. I don't usually do anything crazy with my nail polish, but I felt like three different colors was stretching my comfort zone just the right amount.

  7. The purse was the perfect choice! It's so easy to sew or buy something just for a challenge, then find it doesn't suit your real life. :o) Luckily, I had the perfect "Fiesta" skirt to wear that day. Woohoo!

    1. I know, it would be so easy to buy something for each TST post, but even at thrift store prices, I just can't justify buying stuff I know I'll never wear again. I was so pleased to find this bag though. I've already used it multiple times since I got it!
