All I had time for this week was a super quick take-in, but sometimes, that's really all a garment needs to be rejuvenated. Take this argyle cardigan given to me by a friend (who just hit her 100-pounds-lost mark this morning!!). As I've said, I totally heart argyle, so I knew I had to salvage this one somehow.
With Rosy's help, I pinned the sides and sleeves of the inside-out sweater.
Then I used a zig-zag stitch to prevent the knit from fraying. Once I tried it on and verified it fit nicely, I trimmed the excess fabric as close to the stitches as possible.
Hooray!
More argyle for me!
Hi Carissa!
ReplyDeleteMuch better now! You have just show me that I can buy things that I like (and don´t have my size) bigger and fix them! Especially cardigans!!!!! Thanks!
Kisses from Portugal!
Oh yeah! I do this all the time, but I don't post them all. I don't want to bore you guys to tears with too many plain take-in posts. :)
DeleteSo cute! I have wondered if a close zigzag stitch on its own would work (without a straight stitch beside it) and now I know. Congratulations to your friend; that's a huge accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteSeems to be holding up pretty well, though I haven't washed it yet. Fingers crossed!
DeleteYou are one smart lady! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful ideas!
DeleteThanks, Vashti!
