Sunday Sew-Day: Cobalt Blue, Part V

This past week was ridiculously hectic at work, and The Dude and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary this weekend. So you guys get a small-change-big-impact refashion today. This blouse came from the clothes swap I attended last month. It was baggy and unflattering. It wasn't labelled as a maternity shirt, but it certainly could have been. But cobalt blue AND polka dots? Sign me up!

It fit my shoulders just fine, but it desperately needed some shaping! I flipped it inside out and adding four darts - two in front an two in back.

I also snipped out the hanging straps from the underarms. I don't know why some manufacturers include them when they're not necessary to keep the garment on the hanger. They just get in the way!

So now I have a cute cotton top to wear with a sweater for now and to keep me cool on its own when spring and summer come back around.

  1. Fit is all-important, I am learning. That fits so well after your changes. Looks completely different!

And I'm so pleased with myself, you've no idea - I was thinking "darts" and danged if that's not what you did :) You have to understand that usually I have NO CLUE what to do to change the fit. Osmosis - not just for science, haha

  3. Going through Decembers posts on the Refashion Co-op as I am doing right now - I am noticing a trend with the cobalt blue :-)
    This one looks really lovely.
    Happy New Year :-) Eddie

    2. Thanks, Eddie! I've found I'm more motivated when I can stick to a theme. Of course, I've fallen off the wagon a bit over the holidays, but I plan to do some sewing this weekend!
