Haute Pink

I loved this pink dress so much about 20 pounds ago. It came from a thrift store, purchased for $6. I wore it unaltered several times and always received compliments. Unfortunately, now, it's a bit too big. But the neckline - high in the front and low in the back. The flattering A-line shape. And the color! Oh god, I love the color! I want to be able to wear it again, so it's time for a couple quick tweaks.

After flipping the whole thing, lining and all, inside out, I pinned the side seams to take in a couple inches on each side.

After that, I trimmed about 4-5 inches off the bottom and rehemmed it.

Like I said, just a couple quick tweaks, and this dress is back in fighting form.

I didn't think it was possible, but I love it even more now!

  2. Hi Carissa

This dress is Wowzy!!(a term from my teenage '60s) You have such talent in redos, I love your pieces and I appreciate that you not only recreate the piece, but your finishing skills are to be applauded. I have been following you for a few months and have gone through your gallery. I also want to compliment you on the very tasteful colors your have chosen for your home. Don't think of stopping any time soon. Montana Lady

  3. Yes, it does have a lining. The side seams of the lining were tacked to the side seams of the dress. So when I flipped the dress inside out to take in the sides, I just sewed right through the outer fabric and lining together. Maybe not the most attractive was to do it, but who cares? It's on the inside!

    1. Glad you like my work, Bonnie! Perhaps I do need to splurge on a new haircut. I wouldn't hold my breath on the makeup thing though. ;)
