Materials:
750yds (686m) of worsted weight wool in the color of your choice
US #10/6mm 20in (51cm) circular needle
Tapestry needle
Two 7/8in (2.2cm) buttons
Fabric for lining, if desired
Finished Measurements:
7in (18cm) by 17in (43cm) at the base,
7in (18cm) by 12in (30cm) at the mouth,
8in (20cm) tall, with 24in (61cm) straps
These measurements are approximate and may differ slightly with the gauge and felting characteristics of your yarn.
NOTE:
Sample was knit with three skeins of Murphy's Knitting Worsted (100% wool; approximately 250yds/229m per 4oz/113g skein) in color #1549 Rust, which has been discontinued.
Suggested substitutions:
4 skeins of Patons Classic Wool Merino (100% wool; 223yds/204m per 3.5oz/100g skein)
4 skeins of Cascade 220 Wool (100% wool; 220yds/183m per 3.5oz/100g skein)
4 skeins of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted (85% wool/15% mohair; 190yds/174m per 4oz/113g skein)
Gauge:
16 sts/21 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, before felting
18 sts/30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, after felting
